Ishtar Necklace

2,150.00TL

Ishtar, an important goddess in Mesopotamian mythology, is known for being the goddess of love and fertility. The heart symbol is the symbol of Ishtar who represents the planet Venus. The literal heart in the human body does not resemble the heart symbol used today. This is due to the fact that this symbol comes from the love of Ishtar and Marduk, the holiest god of Babylon. The middle and upper part of the heart symbol represents Ishtar's hips, and the lower part represents Marduk's spade, Marru. The combination of these forms create the heart symbol that we often see today. Inspired by Ishtar, the deity of love, this piece introduces you to one of the most fascinating stories of Near Eastern mythology in the form of filigree.
